Let God Be God

Let God Be God

Among today’s religious community, an over-whelming majority of people place confidence in the thought that when a person has expired and breathed his last, he/she is immediately transported to the courts of Heaven and into the presence of Jesus and God.  Thus, physical death is the door to eternal bliss.  Not much is said though about those who go the other direction, except how hot it is in the flames of torment.  How any human being can claim and is gifted to know another person’s heart is puzzling to me, especially when God says he alone can read everyone’s heart.  Examples of this are found in 1 Kings 8:39, Luke 16:15, and 1 John 3:20.  For those who make the claim that they know positively that a loved one, friend, or acquaintance who died is in Heaven, do they have true faith and trust in God that he knows every heart?  Where do they get the authority to make that judgment call?

The Withered Fig Tree.

In the morning, as they (the disciples and Jesus) went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots.  Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, look!  The fig tree you cursed has withered!”
“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.  “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.  Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”
                                                                                                            Mark 11:20-26

The Parable of the Persistent Widow.

And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says.  And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night?  Will he keep putting them off?  I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly.  However, when the Son of man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
                                                                                                            Luke 18:8

Signs of the End of the Age.

At that time many will turn away from the faith, and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.
                                                                                                            Matthew 24:10, 11

Let God be God.  Trust God that he knows and can read everyone’s heart.  Allow God the opportunity to decide who will be in Heaven and who won’t be.  Trust God; he knows.
